Why we exist
Avaril is a technology company focused on making privacy compliance a default, not a burden.
We build infrastructure that lets any startup meet India's data protection law without hiring a legal team or slowing down to do it. Rethinking from first principles how compliance tooling should work, we make it possible for early-stage companies to be compliant from day one — not retrofit it in after a notice arrives.
DPDPA 2023 touches every business that handles personal data in India — which is nearly every business. Most compliance tooling was built for enterprises with dedicated legal and privacy teams. We think that's backwards. The startups with the least capacity to interpret dense legal text are the ones most exposed if they get it wrong, and least served by tools built for someone else's scale.
Avaril integrates directly into a codebase as the source of truth for compliance — not a separate dashboard someone has to remember to update, but a system that understands what your software is actually doing with data, and flags what's missing.
We believe compliance infrastructure should be as unremarkable and reliable as payments infrastructure or auth — something you set up once, trust, and rarely think about again. That's what we're building toward.
